The rise and fall of Ximen Market accompanied the development and changes of the business styles in Taiwan from the time of Japanese occupation. The multicultural historical architecture and diverse business patterns shape the spectacular atmosphere of this area, blended with nostalgia and fads. The work highlights the charm and spirit of the west side of Taipei, a combination of the new and old, Chinese and Western cultures. With constituents of Baroque and Southern Hokien styles and scattered silhouettes of the people, the work attempts to create the visual image of time and space dislocation.
