The presence of mountains plays an important role in the traditional discipline of Feng Shui. A higher elevation to the rear provides a backing for the person resting in front of it to lean against. This principle has an inseparable relationship with traditional architecture. The work “Mountain Dwelling” is inspired by this traditional erudition, incorporating modern sculptural techniques and forms. It employs the medium of granite, expressing Oriental imagery with minimal lines, balancing emptiness and solidity to convey an atmosphere that is sensorial yet ineffable.
