In Taipei City, along both sides of Dunhua Road from Keelung Road to Minquan East Road, there stands a veritable forest of commercial and financial office buildings. On weekdays, an endless flow of cars runs up and down the thoroughfare, forming an atmosphere all its own. This densely crowded scene, full of rich variations, is the inspiration for the work "Source," which uses water as its basic element. The symbolic shapes come from all directions, and the brass has been treated in a way that retains its original color (resembling gold), to symbolize that this is a place where resources gather. This meaning is also illustrated by the arrangement of the work’s various pieces, which spread out in a cross-shaped structure, with a centerpiece that widens from top to bottom. "Source" is installed at the intersection of Dunhua South Road and Keelung Road, representing the spot’s significance in relation to the rest of the city, and it extends toward Minquan East Road. The work’s design takes into account not only the beauty of its forms, but also the overall aesthetic factors of the surrounding environment. The parts of the work closer to the ground are not only for viewing, but can also serve as a place to rest (seats), in the hope that viewers may interact with the work at a deeper level.
