“Home under the Tree of Knowledge” is a work combining physical and virtual elements. In the outdoor plaza of the Center for Public and Business Administration Education, it presents a composite image of a house with contemporary lines, formed from the three Chinese characters for “people,” “home” and “enterprise,” corresponding beautifully with the area’s thoroughfares that harbor cultural exchange. The history of the streets, the memory of the space, the texture of local life, and the cultural-historical context create a connection and common understanding with local residents, while endowing the area with a shared memory and identity. In the virtual world there can be seen a towering tree, symbolizing that an educated people takes a century to nurture and that the world is interconnected. Through real-time, interactive augmented reality, visitors can send new texts to instantly gemerate mew ,essages pm the screen, revealing the convergence of life as it grows. An endless, living cycle gradually grows into a tree of abundant knowledge.
