Iconic artifacts unearthed by the Institute serve as the foundational creative element of this artwork. They are arranged in a row from the Paleolithic Period through the Iron Age as “images of time” and combined with the quadrangular geometric form of the excavation pit, which symbolizes the fruits of the labors of archaeology of Taiwan. A replica of a golden ornament with a bird motif from the prehistoric Shihsanhang site adorns the outer wall above the entrance. It is shaped in the form of a round heaven and square earth. This motif extends into the central hall, where images of artifacts in outline form are suspended, projecting color and reflecting light. These imprints of history both transcend and lluminate this modern space, engaging us in a dialogue between the ancient past and the present.
