The creative concept of "Riding the Wind" is time. The work is an extension of the variations in light and shadow that play out in a sundial, as a way to ponder the flow of time. When the skies are clear, featherlike shadows reflect on the surface of the pool, swaying and dancing in the breeze, so that the artwork becomes a concrete manifestation of the abstract concept of time. On rainy days, the motive force of the natural nvironment sets the work in motion. Whenever rainwater accumulates to a certain volume, the imbalance in weight forces the work' s parts to tilt ever so slowly, causing the water to flow down an incline and pour into the pool in an arc, expressing yet another metaphor for the passage of time.
