To inspire all to “keep exercising” in order to stay physically, mentally and spiritually healthy, the artist has incorporated “sport” as the key idea in his creative conception. Featuring a “ball game” (with its diversity in the domain of sports) as the central idea, the sculpture with its abstract appearance is designed with interactive working mechanisms. An interactive hand crank has been installed onto one of the supporting feet (pillars) as a medium of interaction between people and the work. By operating the hand crank, the user drives the gears and wheels of the work, causing the stainless steel crown to start rotating, thus rolling the copper ball housed within. With a simple mechanism such as a hand crank, the artist has made it possible for people to create sufficient force to drive a copper ball that weighs dozens of kilograms, simulating such ball movements as rolling, turning, bouncing and so forth. The subtle changes in speed and the force of the ball serve to convey the outstanding quality of champions who do not seek to blindly please the spectators but have instead chosen to humbly conceal their brilliance.
