Composed of seven pillars representing the seven strata of the Zhishan Hill archeological site, this artwork takes the form of a memorandum to showcase the area's culture in seven differnet times, excavated from depths of earth. The color combinations are inspired by field studies at the site to invoke memories and associations. Elements drawn from the site's plants, animals, prehistoric culture, history, geological formations and landscape have been transformed into colors and incorporated as vehicles of expression. This work of public art looks at Zhishan Hill's major developments in history, demonstrates the changing colors of its environment, and also serves as a dialogue between the natural and the manmade, time and space.
