This work by Satoru Takada incorporates a revolving track rising up into the sky, with steel cables connecting it to the solid central column. The surface treated with a metallic finish gives the work an industrial aesthetic. Like the images and elements associated with mobility and transportation often seen in the artist’s works, the track and cables in this one represents the connectivity and fluency of the transportation Works. The cables connecting the track to the central column symbolizes the tight and solid cooperation that culminates the integrated pillar that is the transportation works soaring into the sky. Situated at the entrance to the Department of Transportation and Communication, this artwork creates an organizational landmark, and its stationary linear composition provides a continuously evolving image for the pedestrians and passengers in motion, making it a unique public art and urban aesthetic experience.
