tropical rainforest area is the most sophisticated area in Taipei Zoo with different environmental displays. It offers a place for visitors to learn the ecology of the rainforest, from forest floor to canopy layer, and observe the lifestyles of the animals living in this area without disturbing them. The special design of this area provides both educational and entertainment purposes. This artwork, Jade Forest Park, originated from the concept of stage, is an epitome of the tropical rainforest. The artwork depicts trees, vines, shrubs, swamps, rocks, and caves, to name a few. Once visitors mingle with the stage-like art pieces, they immediately experience the atmosphere of rainforests. In addition to this visual attraction, Jade Forest Park is the first stop for visitors before they enter the rainforest area. By way of story-telling and stage performance, guides at the zoo introduce the biotic community of different plants and animals in tropical rainforests to visitors, as well as introduce the lively Jade Forest Park. In this artwork, the sound from rainsticks ignites the imagination with rain nourishing the diverse, prosperous forest. The H-shaped steels represent trees, which warns us of the rapid disappearance of rainforests and reminds us to save the forest from overdevelopment.
