In order to match the color and structure of the original facility, "The Shield" extends the simple design of the existing sentry post, highlighting its shield-like steadfastness. It also incorporates the arsenal's emblem, along with a redesigned gate panel and truss above the sentry post, extending the visual feeling into a long and flat surface, like a fortress, symbolizing the strict, comprehensive scope of defense. The panels are packed in a tight orderly manner, indicative of the discipline needed to manage a military force. This artwork appears solemn and expansive, creating an impression of impregnability for the main gate of the 202nd Arsenal - a mighty garrison working to defend the people of Taiwan.
