The abstracted form of a flock of sheep reflects the collective existence of humanity. The work reminds modern viewers of a need for mutual respect that has been largely forgotten. The pure clean forms of the sheep symbolize the white coats worm by doctors, white their round and comical shape reflects the love that is an integral part of how medical staff tend to patients. The faces of the sheep are presented in stainless steel to signify the cleanliness and consummate skill of the treatment process. The sheep encircle the open space outside the hospital as if guarding the patients and medical staff. This is also an attempt to give patients and their families a sense of warmth and joy, and provide companionship to the patients staying at the hospital. The work seek to illustrate the "pursuit of excellence in medical care, teaching and research" that has always been the mission of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and the vision and core values of the hospital as "a benchmark medical center that is trusted, staffed by well-respected medical staff and a source of outstanding teaching, reach and management."
